Judy Foy is an author, speaker, photographer, and Professor Emeritus whose work explores how ordinary people can cultivate an interior life rooted in God while living in a noisy world. Drawing on the wisdom of the Christian contemplative tradition, she writes about God's presence in the midst of chronic illness, grief, difficult relationships, and the ordinary moments of everyday life.
Raised in Namibia and South Africa before returning to the United States as a young adult, Judy brings a lifelong appreciation for faith, simplicity, and the many ways people seek God across cultures and circumstances. Her background in cognitive neuroscience, together with her own journey through chronic illness and loss, has shaped a perspective that is both intellectually grounded and deeply compassionate.
Through books, photography, retreats, and speaking, Judy seeks to make the riches of Christian contemplative spirituality accessible to today's readers. Inspired by voices such as Julian of Norwich, the Desert Fathers and Mothers, and other faithful witnesses across the centuries, she invites others to discover that stillness is not an escape from the world, but a way of becoming more deeply rooted in God's love while living fully within it.
