What the caterpillar calls the end of the world,
the Master calls a butterfly.

Judy Foy

Born in Montana and raised in small towns across southern Africa, Judy returned to the United States at age 20 to pursue her education. Her academic journey culminated with a post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA and a distinguished career at Loyola Marymount University, where she is now Professor Emeritus.

A certified grief educator with additional certification in chronic pain support (Empowered Relief), shaped by her own experiences, she creates resources that honor multiple facets of healing. This includes spiritual dimensions often neglected in contemporary approaches. Judy weaves themes of Christian faith, hope, and love's transformative power into all her work. Through her workshops, she creates sacred spaces where people can bring their whole selves—pain, questions, doubts, and hopes—discovering they're not alone. Judy and her husband raised two cherished sons and divide their time between Montana and Southern California.
